Fireside Fiddlers' Tunes

The main purpose of this collection of Australian folk tunes is to foster session playing and singing as if around a campfire without the reading of printed music and songs.

(If you want a still lower tempo to assist learning please phone Harry at 61 3 9870 8998. It's a good idea to listen to and play along with the slowed tune prior to playing from the score to check for accuracy.)

Because of the limitations of musical notation when playing for dancing strict replaying of the printed dots by itself is insufficient. The tunes must also be played with a lilt that is best learnt from playing directly to the feet of the dancers whilst glancing at the printed music dots as little as possible.

Similarly with playing for singing the words guide the lilt and phrasing.
