Club Sessions

Bob in the Wash-house

The VFMC runs a session on Tuesday evenings (except the second Tuesday of the month which is CONCERT night).

The VFMC regrets that due to the covid-19 pandemic all face to face club activities including the Tuesday music sessions have been suspended for the forseeable future. Please monitor this web site for our announcement that activities will be resuming.

The VFMC is now experimenting with on-line music sessions. Initial tests have been conducted using the Zoom application. Although such on-line activity will not be as fulfilling as our normal face-to-face sessions, we hope to maintain a measure of mutual support for club members. All members for whom we have an email address will have been informed. A first trial meeting was conducted at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 7th April. Look out for further sessions each Tuesday at 7.30 till 9.00 If you require further information, please contact Don, the sessions convenor .

Please take time to read our instructions and protocol document by clicking here. We look forward to seeing you soon.

See a YouTube clip of our session on 21st April. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHcdhTcf5Nw

There is no charge to join the on-line session.

The usual structure of our session nights is:

7.30 Australian Folk Songs;

8.00 - 10.15 supportive round-robin session caters for all instruments and skill levels. Enjoy singing, playing, reciting, performing, yarns, workshops etc. on the first and third week. Currently we are trialling the fourth Tuesdays as all-in round-robin tune and dance set playing and group singing.

It's a great way to pick up new material for your repertoire and to play with like-minded enthusiasts.

All welcome. $5 members, $6 non members, kids free.

The venue is Ringwood East Community Hall, Knaith Rd. Reserve.

In August 2017 a survey of members was conducted in order to assess how well the Tuesday sessions were meeting the needs of participants. View the results.

Fireside Fiddlers are a group devoted to by-ear playing of collected traditional Australian tunes. They meet on Monday evenings at 8pm in Melbourne's Eastern suburbs.
