Brumbies bush band

Brumbies bush band

Melbourne's Favourite Bush Band. Formed in 1978, the Brumbies have performed for generations of Melbourne's folkies and bush dancers. With a vast repertoire of dances, and one of the best dance callers in Australia, the Brumbies entertain dancers of all ages, from kinder to pensioners, and from experts to beginners. Our songs are mainly traditional Australian, but include some more modern and some international items.

The VFMC has a family bush dance, normally on the first Saturday of each month (excluding January). Dances are called so these events are suitable for all ages. A different band is featured each month and everyone is welcome. This year, the April dance falls on Easter Saturday. It will form the centre piece of the Port Philip Dance Festival.

Light supper provided. A plate to share would be appreciated.
No alcohol please.

Next Children's Dance

We regret that the Children's Dances are currently suspended. The VFMC is committed to encouraging the next generations of folkies to participate in all aspects of 'folk' but at this time, lack of participation makes it impossible to run these introductory dances for young people.

The start time for our monthly Family Bush Dances has been brought forward by 30 minutes in an effort to make the events more family friendly. Please come along and bring your young people.

Corona Virus Arrangements

We thank every dancer who has joined us via Zoom to dance solo or with just their partner over the last 18 months. We have all made new friends around the world, and we value that experience.

VFMC are delighted to see a return to face-to-face dance events subject to current Government restrictions and our Covid safe plan .

We ask our dancers:
