Melbourne's Favourite Bush Band. Formed in 1978, the Brumbies have performed for generations of Melbourne's folkies and bush dancers. With a vast repertoire of dances, and one of the best dance callers in Australia, the Brumbies entertain dancers of all ages, from kinder to pensioners, and from experts to beginners. Our songs are mainly traditional Australian, but include some more modern and some international items.
The VFMC has a family bush dance on the first Saturday of each month (excluding January). Dances are called so these events are suitable for all ages. A different band is featured each month and everyone is welcome.

The Billabong Band is the Victorian Folk Music Club's own performance group and is probably the longest established band in Australia playing traditional music for Bush / Colonial dances and for concerts. The line-up is variable and depends on which musicians are available at the time.

We thank every dancer who has joined us via Zoom to dance solo or with just their partner over the last 18 months. We have all made new friends around the world, and we value that experience.
VFMC are delighted to see a return to face-to-face dance events subject to current Government restrictions and our Covid safe plan .
We ask our dancers:
While Zoom dances have helped many of us to keep both fit and sane during lockdowns, we find that Zoom participation at live dances loses much of its value, and requires a level of support that we cannot sustain. We will not attempt to provide Zoom access to our December 4th, End of Year dance.
Join us for a Christmas bush dance at your home on the 3rd Saturday of December at 7.30pm. There is no charge. Just contact Jane for the meeting code and password.
As more of us gain access to local, live dances, participation in our Zoom dances had begun to wane. The December 18th Zoom dance will be our final zoom dance for 2021. We may not resume Zoom dancing in 2022. Please check here.
